Sushmita Roy, MA, MS, OTR/L
Sushmita Roy has a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University and has worked with children in some capacity since she was a child herself. While enrolled in her OT program, she completed pediatric occupational therapy fieldworks at Lakeside Center for Autism and at United Cerebral Palsy of NYC. She has extensive occupational therapy experience evaluating and treating children of all ages across multiple settings, including schools, homes, and pediatric outpatient clinics.
Experienced
Before OT school, Sushmita worked full-time as a teacher while concurrently completing a teaching credential and a Master of Arts in Special Education. In the school setting, she directly experienced the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions for increasing her students’ abilities to access their educations while further developing their fine motor, visual motor, sensory regulation, and social skills.
Practical
Sushmita’s interest to become a pediatric occupational therapist was fueled by the life changing impact of occupational therapy on her students. She believes in an individualized approach that incorporates the knowledge of appropriate developmental sequences with the usage of evidence-based practice.
Committed
Sushmita is very passionate about working with children and their families. She is greatly looking forward to continuing her career as an occupational therapist and teacher that helps children build a foundation of learning and achievement for themselves.
