Services

Regardless of whether your child has challenges with learning or cannot be challenged enough by learning, we strive to meet the individual needs of all children.

If your child would benefit from a program that optimizes their skills and talents in a group setting, our enrichment programs may be the most appropriate path.

If your child struggles with pre-academic skills, social skills, or life skills, individual occupational therapy or tutoring services may be the best way to develop these important abilities.

The enrichment classes prepare children for academic and social success by using a scientific approach that targets fine motor, visual perceptual, sensory-motor, cognitive, and social skills. Tutoring

If you are seeking early childhood tutoring services for your child, we offer individualized reading, writing, and math programs. Our approach utilizes unique sensory, motor, and cognitive strategies to enhance your child’s academic development and progress.

FAQ

How is Leap Ahead Enrichment different from other programs?

The founder of Leap Ahead Enrichment is both an educator and an occupational therapist.  Accordingly, these programs resonate with the principles that guide educators to collaboratively and creatively help children access learning material in the school setting with their peers.

Additionally, the programs and services offered are based in the scientific knowledge that shapes occupational therapy practice within the medical model in which occupational therapists are trained.  Occupational therapists have a nuanced understanding of the foundational skills necessary for success in the classroom, and outside of it.  As such, occupational therapists are specially equipped to enhance learning when it comes easily to children in addition to remediating skills when functioning is somehow disrupted.

The incorporation of both educational and occupational therapy perspectives leads to a powerful, progressive approach that helps all children achieve.

How do I know if my child needs occupational therapy services?

If your child is not meeting developmental milestones or has difficulty with any of the areas of occupation including education, play, leisure, social participation, sleep and rest, or activities of daily living like eating and dressing, occupational therapy services may help.  Occupational therapists use a variety of approaches and therapeutic tasks to improve children’s abilities to function at school, at home, in their families, with their peers, and in the community at large.

Challenges with fine motor, visual perceptual, cognitive, and sensory processing skills are remediated through occupational therapy to help children grow, learn, and play.  So whether your child has physical or sensory differences, struggles to grasp writing or eating utensils, is challenged by producing written words on a page or a computer screen, can’t catch a ball, has difficulty dressing in the morning, isn’t able to play with others, is a picky eater, needs help paying attention, has difficulty learning at school, or doesn’t sleep at night, occupational therapy might be needed.  Please contact us for further information.
